Now that the ice and snow is over, the Council is spreading salt all over the city. I guess keeping the reserves until they're actually needed would be a crazy idea.

Sorry, but this is the lamest Christmas tree ever. I was on the LUAS one day and I heard this dad pointing out the special O'Connell Street Christmas tree to his son. The kid was like, where? Where? My sentiments exactly. It looks like a lawn ornament and as you can see, it's pretty much invisible during the day.

Liz and I saw this parade on Grafton Street today. We thought it was a parade for the local radio station since that's what was on the banners they were waving. Wrong! They eventually stopped parading and chanted about how Ireland is going to beat France in the football this weekend. Boring!

After 2 hours, 5 grocery stores, and 2 Asian markets looking for fresh sage for dinner tonight, this is how I came home....empty handed. As I type, Wes is checking places in the city centre and so far M&S didn't have any (I even told him to check for dried). There are two other places he's going to check, but I'm not holding out hope!

UPDATE! Success at Fallon & Byrne. There is no reason why we should have to go to such a posh shop to purchase a common herb.

Wes spotted this stellar photo of the day. We typically boycott this large UK/Irish supermarket chain, but since we couldn't find chicken (yes, chicken) at the first two shops we went to we had no choice. This was a deal to be found in the toothpaste aisle. In case you can't see it in the photo, the original price of this toothbrush was 36.49. At the new half price of 44.93 it's a steal! Idiots.

Pick out the irony here! We are trying to set up a phone. I go buy a new phone at a shop in Dublin city centre. I bring home the phone and the cord doesn't fit into the jack. Turns out the phone is not compatible with the Irish phone system. It's a UK phone and the jacks in Ireland are actually compatible with US phones. So I had to buy this converter thing....to convert the phone I bought in Ireland from a UK phone to one compatible with the Irish system. Huh.
