The Old Head of Kinsale, Co Cork. The weather was gorgeous!

Our sweet ride for the weekend!

There are walkways like this all down the River Liffey. When I first moved here I wanted to walk down it with Wes but we couldn't because he was certain we would be killed and thrown into the river. Looks pretty menacing, doesn't it?

I know where I can find terrorist propaganda in my neighborhood, do you??

Wednesday 27 May 2009

We went for drinks with some of Wes' work colleagues. The club was really ornate inside. It was called, 'Howl at the Moon', but was nothing like the dueling piano bar in Baltimore with the same name. They did play some kickin' 80s music though!

The sky here is such a pretty shade of blue. I don't know if it really is a different color or if it's just extra special because we don't see it as often!

Yay! Wes and I are going to take the test for our provisional license. Similar to England, you can't just switch your US license, so I have to start from scratch.

It was a beautiful sunny day, so we met Mary-Liz and spent the day in the pub. Oops. Anyway, this pub has an awesome beer selection and they brew their own tasty concoctions, so it's a good place to visit. For each country, they have a description of the beers. This picture is the description for the US beers. You read the description and think, wow, they might be the one pub in Ireland that doesn't offer Coors Light and Budwiser! Bring on the fantastic beers you speak of! Um...no. After all the talk, they offered Coors Light, Miller Genuine Draft, Rolling Rock, and Sam Adams. No wonder people think American beer is crap! Oh, and that is 5 euro for a bottle of Coors Light. Ridiculous!

So we drank in Canada instead.

I forgot to take my camera when we went out today which is unfortunate because it was sunny enough for me to wear THESE!!!

My cat doesn't have hair on her ears. I never realized this until the vet in Baltimore pointed it out to me. At this point I had owned her for oh, 5 years or so.

This greets me every morning. Apparently my husband has an aversion to closing drawers and cabinets. Sometimes I get the drawer AND a cabinet hanging open. Sweet!

Pick out the irony here! We are trying to set up a phone. I go buy a new phone at a shop in Dublin city centre. I bring home the phone and the cord doesn't fit into the jack. Turns out the phone is not compatible with the Irish phone system. It's a UK phone and the jacks in Ireland are actually compatible with US phones. So I had to buy this converter thing....to convert the phone I bought in Ireland from a UK phone to one compatible with the Irish system. Huh.

See! We really do have a phone and it's all charged up and ready to go! Maybe once Eircom and BT stop jerking us around we'll actually be able to use it!

Umbrella carnage and abandonment - a common sight in these fair isles.

Sunday 17 May 2009

36/365

Wes and I went to the Old Jameson Distillery. It's right around the corner from where we live! They don't make whiskey there anymore. Now it's all made at Midleton's in Co. Cork. I've been on that tour too and I think I preferred it.

Saturday 16 May 2009

35/365

It was cold enough that Wes had to wear his hat today and so windy my hair was blowing all around. The horrified look on my face is due to it being freezing in mid-MAY!!! BOO!!!!

Friday 15 May 2009

34/365

We met friends for drinks, but we ate in HELL first!

Thursday 14 May 2009

33/365

Today was boring. Here is Wes enjoying his evening cup of tea while we watch TV.

Wednesday 13 May 2009

32/365

Wes brought home some flowers for me yesterday! Since I had already posted my picture I had to save this one for today. :-)

Tuesday 12 May 2009

I hate you spinning class. You may think you can defeat me, but I will win!!!

Yes, this is my gel seat because the bike seat is a bit ouchy....

Monday 11 May 2009

30/365

I met Wes for dinner at The Long Stone Pub. Yum!

Sunday 10 May 2009

29/365

We went to Farmleigh today. You'll need to click on the link to see inside pictures because we weren't able to take photos inside. It was really gorgeous! Reminded me of the National Trust houses in England. I want to post more pictures, but I need to figure out how to do that so they pop up on another page. Check back for when I hopefully get this worked out!

Saturday 9 May 2009

28/365

New duvet and sheets!

Friday 8 May 2009

27/365

My first pizza ever! It was okay, but I have some ideas to make it better next time. I promise not to post anymore pictures of food for awhile.

Thursday 7 May 2009

26/365

I found it! I looked all over and found the 00 flour at this amazing Italian food shop which is right around the corner! We keep talking about checking out that place, but today was the first day I went in. They have lots of cool stuff and they sell wholesale, so everything is fairly cheap (including the wine!). I am going to attempt making pizza tomorrow night for dinner. If it goes well I may make it for friends on Saturday night.

Wednesday 6 May 2009

Little Kitty decided she wanted the crumbs. The bag got stuck on her face and I felt bad taking two pictures of her before I rescued her. It's all about the blog! Ha!

Tuesday 5 May 2009

24/365

Wes seems to think he's still at the resort.

Monday 4 May 2009

23/365

The Lyrath Hotel. The picture is deceptive because the place is HUGE! There's a spa, leisure center, two restaurants, and two bars. When we woke up this morning it was gray skies again and it was freakin' freezin'! :-(

Sunday 3 May 2009

22/365

We were wandering around town and we passed this house. What I couldn't get in the picture (because there were people wandering around the house) was the mural of Elvis right inside the front door, or the car which was also decorated with Elvis memorabilia. Freaky!

Saturday 2 May 2009

21/365

We were leaving the train station in Kilkenny when we passed this cafe that was advertising 'American Cupcake Saturday'. Well, we had to stop!!! Yummy!!!

Friday 1 May 2009

20/365

I had 20 euro and I managed to buy: the book for the book club I just joined, ground beef, mushroom soup, and potatoes for dinner, an extra can of soup just because, rolls to make meatloaf sandwiches for the train tomorrow, and a treat for dessert! I was pretty proud of myself! And I was able to carry it all home in the kicky shopping bag that my cousin gave us for a wedding gift. Sweet!
